Junior I&C Engineer

Reporting to the Electrical/Instrumentation Supervisor Engineer, the position involves providing hands-on support to the Basrah Desalination Plant maintenance team in the upkeep of instrumentation and control equipment, working under the direct supervision of senior engineers to build the competencies required for a full Instrumentation & Control Engineer role, in accordance with the Integrated Management System, O&M manuals and terms of the O&M contract. Key responsibilities 1. Assisting in the maintenance, monitoring and upgrade of instrumentation, control equipment and electrical installations 2. Assisting with the monitoring and calibration of instrumentation and control systems under supervision 3. Supporting the coordination of annual, monthly, weekly and daily preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance tasks as assigned by the Electrical/Instrumentation Supervisor Engineer 4. Assisting in diagnosing malfunctioning instrumentation and control systems, equipment and components using test equipment and hand tools, under the guidance of senior engineers 5. Assisting with testing, dismantling and repairing equipment such as motors, valves and actuators under supervision 6. Assisting with testing, repairing and maintaining wires and electrical lines for continuity 7. Recording observations and raising suggestions to senior engineers on opportunities to improve instrumentation reliability and reduce failures 8. Maintaining relevant records, files and technical documentation up to date 9. Assisting in the preparation of instrumentation reports as requested 10. Assisting with spare parts monitoring and completing issuance documents from the store 11. Supporting coordination with subcontractors on specific work as directed by senior engineers 12. Assisting with the use and upkeep of tools required to carry out maintenance activities 13. Assisting the Instrumentation Team and senior technicians in the field when required 14. Participating in the Permit to Work System as Holder 15. Ensuring adherence to Company policies and procedures at all times 16. Maintaining excellent housekeeping standards at all times, in line with best practice principles 17. Performing any reasonable duty/instruction from Management 18. Participating in compulsory standby duty and working overtime when required 19. Actively pursuing on-the-job training and development toward full I&C Engineer competency Qualifications • As a minimum, a recognized Bachelor Degree or Higher Diploma in Electrical Engineering/Instrumentation Experience • 0–2 years of relevant experience in instrumentation or electrical maintenance; fresh graduates with strong academic performance and relevant internship/training exposure are encouraged to apply • Exposure to a power plant or related field is a plus • Experience or study in Gulf countries is a plus Skills The candidate must be capable of, or actively developing: • Assisting with testing, dismantling and repairing equipment such as motors, valves and actuators • Assisting with testing, repairing and maintaining wires and electrical lines for electrical continuity • Learning to understand and determine causes of malfunctions under senior guidance • Understanding and following oral and written instructions accurately • Reading and beginning to interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings and technical diagrams • Working in a team environment and being ready to take on new challenges • Assisting with writing procedures, tasks and reports • Being flexible due to the nature of the work • Showing initiative and a willingness to progressively work with greater autonomy • Working under pressure • Communicating effectively within a team • Managing time and workload effectively The candidate should have working knowledge of: • Written and spoken English • Basic methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in electricity • Basic methods, practices, materials, tools and equipment used in instrumentation • Fundament
